Horizontal and vertical planning…

Today was a fun day of horizontal and vertical curriculum mapping! This year we introduced a colour coding system for the units of inquiry which made this process much easier on the eyes. I do enjoy a good planning session where all of the teachers are together and you can really pull apart your units – especially when everything is colour coded! It felt good to realign everything and start to plan for the year ahead. The programme looks very well balanced and I’ve got a great new unit of inquiry about Earth and Space in Year 5 which I can’t wait to get started on!

Welcome to PYP & Me!

Welcome to PYP & Me! I’m not an experienced blogger by any means (just writing this post has taken me an inordinate amount of time), but I’m hoping this blog will become a digital scrapbook of my journey through the highs and lows of teaching. I’ve started at an odd time; the school year 2016-17 has ended, the children have left for summer and I’m knee deep in reflecting on the year gone by and planning for next year. Although maybe that means this is a good time to start – the very beginning of a new school year…
